Talkin’ Cubs Live – Cubs vs. Reds – 04/12/06

Game Seven: Cubs (4-2) vs. Reds (5-2)
Game Time – 1:20pm C.T. on WGN TV, WGN Radio, XM Radio Channel 186

Greg Maddux (1-0, 1.42) vs. Brandon Claussen (0-0, 5.40)

The Cubs battle the first place Reds at Wrigley today (what a difference 24 hours makes) and Greg Maddux will look to put the Cubs back on the winning track. The Cubs are 3-0 against the Cardinals and 1-2 against the Reds on the young season. The Cincinnati offense has scored 24 runs on 30 hits, received 20 walks and has hit 11 home runs in 3 games against the Cubs. Maddux has to keep the ball in the park today and not give them any free passes.

Maddux looked very sharp in his first outing allowing only 1 run against the Cardinals in 6 1/3 innings. Maddux is the only starter to be credited with a win this season. Jerry Hairston, Jr. should get the start at second against the left-handed Claussen and Angel Pagan should get his first Major League start. The other question is the health of Aramis Ramirez, if he is unable to go….will it be John Mabry or Neifi Perez? Hopefully the Cubs will be able to give Maddux an early birthday present.

Two out of three is a must a this point….go get ’em Maddog!!
