Updated – 2/15/06 – 8:41pm C.S.T. – Sammy Has Unofficially Retired

According to a report on XM by Charley Steiner, Sammy Sosa has rejected the Nationals offer for the upcoming season. Steiner is speculating that this may be the end of Sosa’s career.

Update on Jeff Weaver

XM Radio is reporting the Angels have agreed to a 1-year, $8.4 million dollar contract with Jeff Weaver.

Update on Sosa – from a report on ESPN.com and Jayson Stark…Sammy is done…

A quote from ESPN.com’s article on Sosa from Sosa’s agent Adam Katz:

“We’re not going to put him on the retirement list,” Katz told ESPN.com. “We decided that [not putting him on that list] was the best thing to do. But I can say, with reasonable certainty, that we’ve seen Sammy in a baseball uniform for the last time.”
