As if there was any question, Harden came in on Pujols on purpose after Soriano was drilled in the head on Sunday.

The quote from Rich:

"(Something) has to be done. You want to go in on him anyway, to just challenge (Pujols). We were just going in there and if something happens, it happens."

As for Lou? "Well, I just think he was going to try to come inside and the ball got away from him. Twice."

Classic. Kudos.

LaRussa's Cardinals always seems to bean a Cubs at least four times a series. This response seemed appropriate.

First Round Divisional Playoff Game 3: Celtics (2) (1-1) at. Bulls (7) (1-1)

First of all, kudos to Neil for the Talkin' Live format --it's great.

More importantly, welcome to the show. The Baby Bulls have finally grown up right in front of our eyes.

The Bulls stole home-court advantage from the defending World Champions with a dramatic OT win on Saturday afternoon and played right down to the wire at the Boston Garden in Monday's loss.

Optimism has to be surging in the Windy City. And why shouldn't it be? The Bulls are 14-2 since John Paxon sent Drew Gooden and spare parts for John Salmons and Brad Miller. Meanwhile, Derrek Rose has finally blossomed on the sport's biggest stage while Joakim Noah has matured into a reliable defender down the stretch run.

So it all comes down to this:

The Cubs plan to call up Jeff Samardzija from Iowa on Thursday to join the bullpen. There is no word on what corresponding move will be made to make room for him in the pen, but it was speculated that Luis Vizcaino could be released. Samardzija is coming off one of his best starts as a professional after he went 6 innings and gave up 2 runs on 1 hit. As a whole he has been dominant in Triple-A holding hitters to a .154 AVG and striking out 11 in 12 innings pitched.

I have to start of with saying that I am sooo glad Bob didn't get the Brewers head coaching job because I couldn't bear to watch a Cubs game this year, and also if Bob leaves, who will coach the cubs after Lou's contract expires?. But the real reason for the post is jerseys... The cubs need a new jersey. I don't recommend getting rid of any existing uniforms, but these should be in addition. First idea; A solid baby blue top with the old school cubs logo and red trim, worn with white pants and baby blue pin stripes. Second idea; Solid red tops with similar pants.

The Cubs still have a couple of roster spots to fill before Sunday's 2:00pm C.T. deadline and with those roster spots, comes at least two other decisions.

After Saturday's game, Aaron asked me a comment to describe the performances in the exhibition season for the 28 guys (25-man roster and the three competing for the final two spots) that I saw this spring.

Numbers and box scores can often be deceiving. So here is goes...

According to a report from Ed Sherman, the Daily Herald's coverage of both Chicago baseball teams will not include reports from the road this season.

Bruce Miles, the Cubs beat writer, and Scot Gregor, the Sox beat writer, will continue to cover the teams but only for home games. The reason...the nearly six figures it takes to send a writers on the road.

Bruce Miles will not be in Houston Monday for Opening Day.

The great guys over at GROTA just posted a nickname discussion up in which they come up with great AKAs for our boys in blue.

Neil and I were discussing the same over in a game thread last Saturday and the two really gave me a thought.

What are the favorite nicknames all of ya'll have for the Cubbies? My list is as follows:

Ryan Theriot: The Riot (If it ain't broke)
Alfonso Soriano - The Fonz "Heeeeyyyyy!'
Milton Bradley - The Game
Kosuke Fukudome - The F-Bomb
Reed Johnson - Reed Johnson's Beard
Aaron Miles - Dirtbag (Kudos Neil!)

Ted Lilly - Bulldog
Kevin Gregg - Gogglehead

Any takers? What say you?
