NL Central

With all the negative talk about our roster right now, I have to say that even though I haven't been thrilled with the moves we've made so far, we are still by far and away the best team in the NL Central. Basically we have traded Bradley for Derosa and lost Marquis. I'm sure we will find a suitable replacement for Marquis. So after that, we still have pretty much the same team with the same core of players that won 97 games last year. I had the opportunity to hear John Shuerholz speak a few times and he always stressed that it is the GM's job to create a roster that is capable of getting to the playoffs, after that it's up the players to find a way to win 11 games to win the World Series. As we've seen year after year, the best team doesn't always win the World Series...the hot team does. With all that said. I like our team. I liked it last year and since not much has changed I still like it this year. The NL Central is probably one of the worst in baseball with the Brewers going downhill and the other 3 teams doing nothing to help their clubs. We should run away with the division. From there it's a matter of getting hot at the right time. Would I love to land Roberts or Peavy? Of course, but if we don't make another move the rest of the way, I still like this team and like it's chances of advancing in the playoffs.
