The Cubs claimed right-handed pitcher Carlos Gutierrez off waivers from the Twins on Wednesday and to make room on the 40-man roster, designated catcher Anthony Recker for assignment. The Twins selected Carlos Gutierrez with their first pick (27th overall) in the 2008 draft.
