From the Wire: Cubs Designate Ryan Kalish for Assignment, RHP Jacob Turner added to 40-Man Roster

The Cubs designated OF Ryan Kalish for assignment to make room on the 40-man roster for RHP Jacob Turner. When Kalish was removed from Iowa’s game Thursday night and replaced with Brett Jackson it was obvious he was involved to some degree in the acquisition of Jacob Turner.

Ryan Kalish made the Cubs roster out of Spring Training but in 39 games, Kalish hit only .242/.303/.330 with two doubles and three triples for a .633 OPS. Kalish was optioned to Triple-A Iowa on May 26.

Kalish did not hit with Iowa while receiving regular playing time. In 67 games, Kalish managed a .219/.306/.367 line with 11 doubles, three triples and five home runs.

PrintWith the two roster moves, the Cubs 40-man roster officially stands at 40 players.

The Cubs have not addressed Jacob Turner’s immediate future with the team and if he will be added to the 25-man roster or not.

Jacob Turner is out of minor league options. The Cubs will have to add him to the active 25-man roster or stash him on the disabled list until the roster expands on Sept. 1.
