The Cubs have not announced Jorge Soler has been called up or the corresponding roster move to add him to the 25-man roster.
Tuesday night’s starting lineup should include Anthony Rizzo, Starlin Castro, Javier Baez, Arismendy Alcantara and Jorge Soler.
Jorge Soler launched a three-run homer in the third inning of Monday night’s game in Tacoma and was pulled from the game. Monday’s homer was Soler’s eighth for Iowa and 15th of the season.
For the season, Jorge Soler hit .338/.432/.687 in 61 games between Arizona, Tennessee and Iowa with 23 doubles, two triples, 14 home runs and a 1.118 OPS.
Jorge Soler was expected to make his big league debut in September when the roster expanded. But Justin Ruggiano did not play in Sunday’s game after being a late scratch from Saturday’s game due to left ankle soreness. With Soler already on the 40-man roster, the move makes sense and moves up the timetable only a couple of days.
