CCO Fantasy Baseball League – Week 18

We had six games that had playoff implications and four of them lived up to their billing with one going down to the wire. Eleven wins is where the playoffs are at with one 11-7 team (Bullpen MacGyvers) on the outside looking in along with two 10-8 teams (BigJonLilJon’s and What’s Optimism?) tied for 10th and 11th.

Three teams sit at 8-10 (Waiting on Bryant, Wrong Team, JOTB) three games back with three games to play. But, they are too far behind on points to overcome their deficit and are basically eliminated. We also have six teams that have been officially eliminated from the playoffs. (Waveland – Team Gramps and Team Scared Hitless. Sheffield – CubfaninSeattle John, Baywatch Buttspanx, Balls Deep in the Ivy and Slammin Steven Petty.)

We have just three weeks left and a reminder that Week 21 is a position round and the match-ups will be set on the morning of September 15. It is a manual process.

The trade deadline came and went without any blockbusters. But if the amount of teams and deals that was involved in all the way up to the last morning was any indication of the rest of the teams’ activity, we had a lot of talk going back and forth, but once again, showed how difficult trades are to come to agreement and become reality.

Hatfield’s and McCoy’s

We have had 8 weeks of interleague play. This week we had another tie at 5-5.  That leaves the bragging rights with the Hatfield’s (Waveland) with a record 45-35 over the McCoy’s (Sheffield) and a weekly record of 4-0-4.

#3 Clark n Addison Tony_H (13-5) 329 over #1 The Calicubs (13-5) 327 over

PrintAs you would expect, a very close game all week and it came down to Sunday Night Baseball between the #1 and #3 seeds teams in what could be a preview of a playoff match-up. After a day in which both teams had starters going in the early afternoon and had all 3 of their relievers get appearances, we could say the 2 point difference came from my team getting a win and a hold from the bullpen while Calicubs picked up a save. But it did come down to SNB, Calicubs had Denard Span leading off for the Nationals and I had Anthony Rendon batting 2nd for the Nationals. Rendon singled and stole a base in his 1st AB and was shut-out the rest of the night. Span doubled in the 5th and 7th to cut the deficit to 2 points but didn’t get another AB in the 9th. Calicubs was dropped to 2nd but Clark n Addison stayed in 3rd as Calicubs has more total points.

The Calicubs: Max Scherzer 40 pts (15 IP, 13 H, 3 ER, 3 BB, 15 K) Pablo Sandoval 35 pts (2 HR, 2 2B, 5 R, 9 RBI)

Clark n Addison Tony_H: Garrett Richards 53 pts (15.1 IP, 8 H, 1 ER, 4 BB, 14 K, W) Clayton Kershaw 40 pts (15 IP, 13 H, 4 ER, 4 BB, 13 K, W) David Price 32 pts (14.2 IP, 13 H, 7 ER, 3 BB, 16 K)

    I’m 11 and 7? What gives

  • Cubbiemacg

Nvm it says 11/7 up top but the bottom standings have me 10/8

    • Tony_H

Sorry about that. 11-7 is correct.

  • JasonOfTheBurbs

I officially capitulate, although I will continue to set lineups and hope to play spoiler.
    ps..I hate Masterson.

  • BigJonLilJon

My pitching woes finally caught up with me the past 2 weeks. Have had more negative point games than positive ones. I may have to settle for spoiler with an outside chance to make playoffs if things fall just right.
