Kris Bryant and Juan Paniagua Named Cubs Minor League Player and Pitcher of the Month for June

The Cubs announced Sunday the organization’s Player and Pitcher of the Month for June. For the second straight month Kris Bryant was named the Cubs’ Minor League Player of the Month. Juan Carlos Paniagua was named the Cubs’ Minor League Pitcher and for the third straight month the organization recognized a Kane County Cougars’ player with a monthly award.

Kris Bryant had a huge month of June. Bryant began the month with Double-A Tennessee, won the home run derby at the All-Star game, hit third and played third base in the Southern League All-Star game and was promoted to Triple-A Iowa the next day. And Bryant’s first five hits at the Triple-A level all let the park.

Kris Bryant led all of minor league baseball with 11 home runs in June. Bryant hit .354/.447/.781 (34-for-96) in June with eight doubles, 11 home runs, 27 RBI and a 1.228 OPS in 26 games.

PrintIn 18 games with Iowa, Kris Bryant has hit .364/.432/.773 with six doubles, seven home runs, eight walks, 21 strikeouts and a 1.205 OPS. For the season, Kris Bryant is hitting .357/.453/.717 with 26 doubles, 29 home runs, 225 total bases and a 1.169 OPS.

Kris Bryant, along with teammate Javier Baez, will participate in the SiriusXM Futures Game at Target Field on Sunday, July 13.

Juan Carlos Paniagua had an excellent June and has put together a good season for Low-A Kane County. Paniagua was 3-0 in four games, three starts, with a 0.89 ERA and a 0.93 WHIP. In 20 1/3 innings, Paniagua allowed four runs, two earned, on 14 hits with five walks and 26 strikeouts.

For the season, Juan Carlos Paniagua is 5-3 in 15 games, 12 starts, with a 2.97 ERA and a ?WHIP. Paniagua has allowed 25 runs, 23 earned, on 57 hits with 33 walks and 65 strikeouts in 69 2/3 innings.
