Kris Bryant Homers in Triple-A Iowa Debut

Kris Bryant did not disappoint Thursday night in Iowa’s 6-2 victory over El Paso. Bryant hit a two-run homer over the wall in right field in the seventh inning off Branch Kloess and finished the game 1-for-4 with a home run, two RBI and a strikeout.

With Thursday’s homer, Kris Bryant has hit home runs in his first game with the Daytona Cubs (High-A), Tennessee Smokies (Double-A) and the Iowa Cubs (Triple-A).

Kris Bryant struck out swinging in his first at bat on a 2-2 pitch from Jason Lane. Bryant flied out to center in his second plate appearance. Javier Baez (1-for-3 with a walk, a run scored and a stolen base) tagged and advanced to third on the play. Baez scored the Cubs first run on a Josh Vitters (2-for-4 with a RBI and a run scored) single to right. Bryant flied out to right in his third at bat.

Kris Bryant started at third and hit fifth behind Chris Valaika. Marty Pevey ran out a starting eight of Arismendy Alcantara (CF), Luis Flores (C), Javier Baez (SS), Chris Valaika (2B), Kris Bryant (3B), Josh Vitters (1B), Ryan Kalish (LF) and Casper Wells (RF) behind Tsuyoshi Wada.
