Cubs Agree to Terms on 2014 Contracts with 19 Pre-Arbitration Players

The Cubs announced Monday afternoon the team agreed to terms with the 19 players on the 40-man roster with 0-3 years of Major League service time.

The Major League minimum is $500,000 for the 2014 season and the terms on the contracts for Jake Arrieta and Welington Castillo were not released. Castillo was paid $503,000 last season and Arrieta made $517,000 a year ago. Both players should receive raises from the 2013 salaries.

The following players agreed to contracts for the 2014 season:

  • Neil Ramirez
  • Hector Rondon
  • Zac Rosscup
  • Chris Rusin
  • Arodys Vizcaino

Catchers

  • Welington Castillo

Infielders

  • Arismendy Alcantara*
  • Mike Olt
  • Christian Villanueva
  • Logan Watkins

Outfielders

  • Brett Jackson
  • Junior Lake
  • Matt Szczur
  • Josh Vitters

For players on the 40-man roster for at least a second year or players with at least one day of Major League service time, the minor league minimum salary is $81,500 for the 2014 season. (* denotes first year on 40-man roster)
