2014 Cubs Convention Schedule and Attendees

The Cubs and WGN released the schedule and list of attendees for the 29th Annual Cubs Convention. The convention begins Friday afternoon and runs through Sunday (Jan. 17 – Jan. 19) at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers.

This focus of this year’s convention is “The Party of the Century Celebrating 100 Years of Wrigley Field” and the year-long celebration the team has planned to honor the beloved park. Several members of the ’84 team are scheduled to attend the convention to mark the 30th anniversary of the National League Eastern Division Champions that captured a generation.

Rick Renteria will get his first taste of what it will be like to manage the Cubs while former players such as Ted Lilly, Mark Prior and Derrek Lee will return for their first convention as Cubs Alumni.

One of the highlights will be the Cubs’ prospects scheduled to attend the convention. Javier Baez, Kris Bryant, Albert Almora, Arismendy Alcantara, C.J. Edwards, Jorge Soler, Kyle Hendricks, Pierce Johnson, Eric Jokisch, Mike Olt, Neil Ramirez, Christian Villanueva, Rubi Silva, Arodys Vizcaino and Armando Rivero are expected to be at the convention throughout the weekend.

The Cubs radio and television partnerships are also expected to be addressed during the convention.

Drive safely on those little ice pads all over the roads. I hope you have four-wheel drive.

I wouldn’t mind having the Cubs Alumni in their prime years on our current roster.
