The Cubs optioned Logan Watkins, Trey McNutt, Brooks Raley and Alberto Cabrera to Triple-A Iowa. Robert Whitenack was optioned to Double-A Tennessee and non-roster invitee Nick Struck was re-assigned to minor league camp.

With the latest round of spring roster cuts, the Cubs have trimmed nine players off the roster in the last three days.

Last week when Szczur was cut, you reported that this counts as one of his option years. Is that unique to him or is the same true for the 6 guys who were cut today and who are also on the 40-man roster?

It is not unique to Szczur and the moves today to the five players will count as an option year. Struck does not, he is not on the 40-man and was in camp on a non-roster invite.
