From the Wire … Cubs Outright RHP Guillermo Moscoso to Triple-A Iowa

According to multiple reports, as expected the Cubs outrighted recently acquired Guillermo Moscoso to Triple-A Iowa. The Cubs claimed Moscoso off waivers from the Blue Jays on Wednesday after placing Arodys Vizcaino on the 60-day DL to open a spot on the 40-man roster.

Guillermo Moscoso has been removed from the 40-man roster creating a spot for either Brent Lillibridge or Hisanori Takahashi. The Cubs 40-man roster currently stands at 39 players.

The Cubs used the rules to their advantage with this move. The front office was able to add a pitcher to organization by placing Arodys Vizcaino on the 60-day DL and waiting to fill that spot.

The Cubs still have to open one spot on the 40-man roster to add both Lillibridge and Takahashi. Scott Baker will likely be placed on the 60-day DL within the next two days in order to open a spot on the roster.

Guillermo Moscoso is expected to be with the I-Cubs on Opening Day.
