Garza Cleared to Start Off-Season Routine

The Cubs received good news on Thursday morning when Matt Garza was medically cleared to resume baseball activities and begin his off-season program. A second scan on Garza’s right elbow revealed that the injury was healing as expected.

Matt Garza was sidelined in late July with a stress reaction in his right elbow and finished the season on the 60-day disabled list.

Matt Garza is expected to be ready to go when pitchers report to Fitch Park in early February. Garza tweeted his excitement after receiving the news he had been cleared for baseball activities. Garza said on twitter, “I’m cleared for takeoff!! Strap it on tight cause we are going on one helluva ride..”
