According to multiple reports, the Cubs purchased the contract of right-handed reliever Blake Parker from the Iowa Cubs and added him to the 40-man roster roster. Parker has been called-up and replaced lefty Scott Maine in the Cubs’ pen. Maine was optioned back down to Iowa after being recalled on Wednesday.
With the addition of Blake Parker, the Cubs’ 40-man roster stands at 39 players. The Cubs selected Blake Parker in the 16th round of the 2006 draft. The 26-year old right-hander posted a 1-0 record in 13 games for Iowa this season with five saves. In 13 innings, Parker struck out nine and walked five (2.08 ERA and a 1.07 WHIP).
