From the Wire … Blake Parker Added to Cubs Pen, Maine Optioned to Triple-A Iowa

According to multiple reports, the Cubs purchased the contract of right-handed reliever Blake Parker from the Iowa Cubs and added him to the 40-man roster roster. Parker has been called-up and replaced lefty Scott Maine in the Cubs’ pen. Maine was optioned back down to Iowa after being recalled on Wednesday.

With the addition of Blake Parker, the Cubs’ 40-man roster stands at 39 players.

The Cubs selected Blake Parker in the 16th round of the 2006 draft. The 26-year old right-hander posted a 1-0 record in 13 games for Iowa this season with five saves. In 13 innings, Parker struck out nine and walked five (2.08 ERA and a 1.07 WHIP).

    Good Luck, Blake!

What’s going on with Jeff Beliveau?  The Cubs were talking very highly of him in the spring, his AAA line doesn’t look bad. He is strikeout pitcher too, something that Cubs are lacking in the bullpen.  He isn’t stretched out to start…what gives?

    • Aaron

He lacks control…that’s why he’s not up…same reason Maine didn’t make it out of spring training and why he got sent down now.

If Parker can’t hack it i fully expect them to try Batista soon.

It’s not great, but it’s not that bad, is it?  He has better control than Dolis, much higher K totals in AA-AAA and a career 2.5 K/BB ratio in the minors.

I have a feeling that Volstad will pitch one his best games of his career tonight.

    • Aaron

I have a strong feeling you are so high on something right now….did you just come out of surgery and are on painkillers or were you smoking the wacky tobaccy?

      • Tony_Hall

    All Drugs are bad.

Don’t you people remember what Ronald Reagan said about Drugs?

That is whats wrong with this country….too many people on drugs!

Especially the ones who are pushing all the buttons.

All your Wall St. bankers and U.S. politicians are the biggest dopers around……..they used drugs in the 60’s and 70’s and 80’s….their minds are all messed up now…….now they need to take a pill to get it up…..or to remember……or to sleep

Look at all these women with cancer now……birth control pills did them in.

They all just got old and their minds are whacked out and their organs are wearing out……………so tell your kids to stay away from drugs.

Drug Companies are killing all of us.

    …….now back to baseball talk.
