Cubs Announce Second Round of Spring Roster Cuts

According to multiple reports, the Cubs reduced their spring roster Saturday morning by assigning right-handed pitcher Dae-Eun Rhee and catcher Micah Gibbs to minor league camp. Both players were non-roster invitees to big league camp.

The Cubs spring roster now stands at 57 players, 39 on the big league roster and 18 non-roster invitees.

The Cubs have made two rounds of cuts in the past two days. Trey McNutt, Marco Carrillo, Jae-Hoon Ha and Jonathan Mota were assigned to minor league camp Friday.

Micah Gibbs did not receive an invite to camp until Geovany Soto was sidelined. Dae-Eun Rhee will be stretched out as a starter in minor league camp and is expected to be in the Tennessee Smokies (Double-A) starting rotation on Opening Day.
