Cubs Sending Six to the Arizona Fall League

According to multiple reports Tuesday afternoon, the Cubs will send six players to the Arizona Fall League.

Top prospects Brett Jackson and Trey McNutt will suit up for the Mesa Solar Sox along with Chris Carpenter, Junior Lake, D.J. LeMahieu and Andrew Cashner. Jeff Beliveau will be on the taxi squad.

It appears the Cubs are planning on using the AFL as a way to get players that spent time on the DL this season a full year of playing time (between minors, majors and the AFL).

According to multiple reports, Andrew Cashner will be used as a starter in the AFL in order to prepare him to go into camp next spring to compete for a spot in the rotation. The Cubs are planning on limiting Cashner’s innings this fall as well as monitor his progress.

The Arizona Fall League begins its 20th season on Tuesday, October 4.

Matt Kemp – why is no one talking about his impending free agency?  Is it just assumed that the Dodgers will re-sign him?  The Dodgers suck, he just turned 26 and is having an MVP season that no one seems to know about.

He’s about to become a very wealthy and secure young man.

Fielder — that would be a pretty exciting team.

Kemp is a Free Agent in 2013, not this off-season.  He has another year on his deal.

O, that’s why there is no talk.  Cot’s has him listed as 2010-2011.

What does Byrd have to do to work himself out of the lineup? No matter how bad he is, there is his name again and again.

I think that LA will come up with the money for Kemp in arbitration this year but he seems destine to hit the market in 2013. That is why I said earlier that I thought they would move Either this offseason, With the injury stuff, his last year of arbitration and the huge pay check that Kemp and Kershaw are about to get you might see a lot of movement by LA this offseason.

Sorry ment to put this under John

I would like to see a package deal sending The Arsonist ( Grabow) and Casey C to some-one,any-one for what ever. Such as three balls that have been thrown out of a game or perhaps a bag of splinters from broken bats. That would be a nice gift for the new GM before he assumes the job
