Cubs-Nationals Game Postponed

Monday night’s game between the Cubs and Nationals has been postponed due to rain.

The game will be made up on Thursday, August 11 … first pitch scheduled for 1:20pm CDT. Tickets for tonight’s game will be good for Thursday’s make-up.

Kinda fitting that on the 23rd anniversary of the first scheduled night game at Wrigley the game was postponed due to rain.

According to multiple reports, Mike Quade will not alter his rotation for the series. Matt Garza will start Tuesday, Rodrigo Lopez on Wednesday and Ryan Dempster will take the hill on Thursday.

Mike Quade also said he would have preferred a day-night doubleheader and not losing Thursday’s off-day.

Quote of the Day

"Every day is a new opportunity. You can build on yesterday’s success or put its failures behind and start over again." – Bob Feller

Jose Reyes on DL again with the Mets with hamstring issues. Mets should have gotten something for him while they could have. He just can’t seem to stay healthy. Too bad because he is a very good play!

Everyone … please remember to check back in the morning. Another minor league report will be up, this one focused on the last quarter.

this is great news…i thought he was one of the most difficult/toughest ones to sign outta the bunch..

if we sign baez and vogelbach (we should soon), this draft has some power potential with them plus holiman and shoulders. sweet.

That makes 24 signed with more that are still working through the Commissioners Office. We are going to be in great shape if we end up with the guys that are not announced yet and still get a couple more.

Ricketts is certainly doing what he said he would and putting his money in the draft. Now lets get them working towards the majors.

      Thanks for posting …

Received third round money with additional funds for his future education … “a deal he felt was too good to pass up”

Iowa now all over Sacramento 8-0 in the seventh. I-Cubs have pounded out 15 hits, six for extra bases including Bryan LaHair’s 30th homer. Chris Rusin has gone all the way with 11 K’s.

Just to note, Sacramento are no slouches. They have the best record in the PCL and have former major leaguers Andy LaRoche and Kevin Kousmanoff, along with big-time prospect Brandon Allen.

for a guy that hasnt struck out a ton of batters in his minor league career thats a really great outing. looking at his stats theres some great control with the low walk totals, plus his hr allowed numbers are low and has a solid whip this season. casey coleman seems like the frontrunner for a callup, while jay jackson needs to rediscover his arm strength (i belive he would be better than him) in order to have a chance. but if rusin can start racking up more k’s who knows what could happen.

Brett Jackson is 2-for-4 so far tonight with a RBI double

Brett Jackson was 2-for-5 with a RBI double in Iowa’s 8-0 win over Sacramento on Monday night.
