According to a tweet from Carrie Muskat, Micah Hoffpauir signed a one-year deal to play baseball in Japan with the Nippon Ham Fighters.
With Hoffpauir heading to Japan, the Cubs 40-man roster stands at 35 players. The Cubs have until Friday to set their reserve lists for the Major and Minor League levels. With the subtraction of Hoffpauir, the Cubs will be able to add Chris Archer and Brandon Guyer, along with Alberto Cabrera, Kyle Smit and Marquez Smith.
The Cubs should announce additional roster moves in the next two days.
