Aramis Ramirez Drawing Interest from the Red Sox?

According to Bruce Levine, the Boston Red Sox have a lot interest in Cubs’ third baseman Aramis Ramirez. Ramirez is expected to exercise his option and remain with Cubs for 2011. Ramirez will earn $14.6 million next season once he exercises his option.

Aramis Ramirez has a team option for 2012 worth $16 million that includes a $2 million buyout.

Bruce Levine thinks Aramis Ramirez “might consider an East Coast team and having spring training in Florida only an hour or so from the Dominican.”

Ramirez has a full no trade clause but if he agrees to waive his no trade rights he would receive a $1 million assignment bonus.

Quote of the Day

You can’t create magic … don’t deserve magic until you play the game properly. It shouldn’t come your way. And, it won’t come your way. But, if you play the game properly, then all of a sudden, these little things start rolling in your direction and you start expecting them to happen on a daily basis because you’ve earned it.” – Joe Maddon
