Sandberg Interviews for Cubs Job

Carrie Muskat reported Jim Hendry met with Ryne Sandberg on Tuesday in Arizona about the Cubs’ managerial position. Following a report from Bruce Levine Tuesday night that indicated Sandberg would receive an interview over the next few days, Muskat confirmed Hendry met with Sandberg on Tuesday.

Hendry has already interviewed Eric Wedge, the former Indians manager, and is expected to discuss the Cubs’ job with Pat Listach, Bob Melvin and Bob Brenly. Mike Quade will receive his interview after the season … and many feel Quade’s stock has risen with the improved play on the field.

Jim Hendry and Ryne Sandberg met a couple of weeks back, but reportedly not about the Cubs job. The two discussed several of the Cubs’ minor league players, but not the managerial opening.

Reports figure to surface on a regular basis in the coming weeks.
