Fukudome and Soto Out … Colvin and Hill In?

According to a report from the Tribune, “Lou Piniella is fed up” and it appears Kosuke Fukudome and Geovany Soto may be benched.

After another lackluster performance by his offense Friday night, Piniella said he doesn’t want to talk about his offense anymore. Piniella told the media, “I think I’m talked out. I am talked out. I think we’ll just let them go out there and see what they can do.”

Piniella keeps inserting Derrek Lee and Aramis Ramirez into the middle of his lineup, except for one game, and day after day he keeps expecting, or hoping for different results.

Tyler Colvin and Koyie Hill are expected to start Saturday in place of Kosuke Fukudome and Geovany Soto.

From the Tribune:

“I’m going to let the kid play and see what he can do, give us some energy. We’ll have him (Colvin) in the lineup, and we’ll probably have (Koyie) Hill behind the plate. We’re not scoring any runs, and I need somebody that keeps the other team from running. I know these guys are trying, but I’ll tell you what, we see the same thing every day, day-in and day-out.”

The entire team is not hitting and one or two reactionary moves are not going to cure the Cubs problems. Tyler Colvin is not going to fix what is wrong with this team. Colvin has not been handled properly and should have been sent down to Triple-A weeks ago to get regular playing time.

Piniella keeps looking for what is wrong with his team while he keeps penciling Derrek Lee and Aramis Ramirez in the middle of his lineup.

What was it Piniella said about stupidity?
