Castro and Snyder Cut from Big League Camp

The Cubs made their fourth round of roster cuts following Saturday’s split-squad games. Starlin Castro was assigned to minor league camp … along with Brad Snyder.

Lou Piniella said Starlin Castro “had a phenomenal spring.”

With Starlin Castro and Brad Snyder assigned to minor league camp, the Cubs Spring Training roster stands at 40 players. The Cubs have two weeks from Sunday to finalize their Opening Day roster.

During his pre-game show, Lou Piniella indicated he would name his starting rotation by the end of next week. The Cubs’ skipper previously said around March 24, but the decision could come a day or two later.
