The Cubs’ former closer was one of 31 players to file for free agency on Monday. Kevin Gregg is a Type-A free agent but the Cubs are not expected to offer him arbitration or attempt to re-sign the right-handed reliever.
Kevin Gregg was acquired from the Marlins last winter for Jose Ceda.
The Cubs have only two potential free agents that have yet to file … John Grabow and Chad Fox. Rich Harden and Reed Johnson filed last week and the Cubs are expected to let both players walk.
The Cubs are expected to re-sign John Grabow before the southpaw hits the open market. Reports have suggested that Grabow could receive a two-year deal with an option for 2012 worth more than $3 million per season.
