From the Wire…Gaudin Signs with Padres

According to a report from MLB.com, the Padres inked Chad Gaudin to a minor league contract on Saturday. Gaudin will be in San Diego on Sunday to work out for the Padres.

Chad Gaudin will make the league minimum of $400,000 with the Padres leaving the Cubs on the hook for the other $1.6 million of the one-year $2 million contract he signed over the winter.

Gaudin was a big disappointment this spring for the Cubs and was released last Sunday in favor of Angel Guzman and David Patton.

Lou Piniella’s pen has under performed in the first five games…other changes could be coming if pitchers other than Carlos Marmol do not start recording outs.

Quote of the Day

"People ask me a lot about the values I got from playing for the Cubs for so many years. The value I got out of it was patience. A lot of people these days are not very patient." - Ernie Banks
