According to a report from the Chicago Tribune, the Cubs released Esteban German on Friday.
Esteban German signed a minor league deal with the Cubs on March 13 that included a non-roster invitation to Spring Training. After 16 days in big league camp, the Cubs re-assigned German to minor league camp on March 29.
Friday marked the second time this spring Esteban German has been released from an organization. The Royals DFA'd German on February 28 to make room on their 40-man roster for Juan Cruz. German cleared waivers and was released by the Royals on March 9.

what a horrible outing by Lilly...and boy does our lineup look average...I know we didn't have Soriano and ARAM, but man, 6 hits is all we could muster? That's pathetic!
I keep hoping to hear "From the wire...Gaudin traded"...Hell, I'd even take, "From the wire...Gaudin DFA'd"
Did you see the ridiculous numbers from the Yankees pen this spring? They're never supposed to have outstanding pitching...outside of the occasional 1-2 spots in the rotation, and of course, Rivera at closer. Our pen was HORRIBLE this spring, and Gregg seemed to revert back to his form last year with getting into trouble, and you could see Lou was beyond boiling at that point.
anyway..here's to hoping Saturday is a much better played game with far better effort from our team to head into the regular season with some momentum. After all, isn't that what the postseason is all about too?
Momentum has nothing to do with a baseball team's performance if it enters the postseason. In the Cubs' case the last 2 postseasons, Piniella cost the Cubs the series' with his inept managing.
Inept managing by Lou? Yes, he could improve some, but did you ever watch Dusty Baker? If you want to see inept, watch him! How he ever got a job in MLB, I dunno. I'll tell you this: whatever it was that caused someone to hire him, it wasn't his game management skills.
