According to a report from Paul Sullivan, the Cubs will leave Kerry Wood's corner locker at Wrigley Field vacant for the 2009 season.
Tom "Otis" Heilman, the Cubs' clubhouse man, made the decision out of respect for Kerry Wood's career with the Cubs.
Kerry Wood will always be a Cub, regardless of the logo on the front of his jersey.
Here is his farewell to the Faithful that ran in the Chicago Tribune and in the Chicago Sun-Times on the final day of the convention in January.
Stay Classy Otis!

I dig Kerry Wood like no one's business.
But I don't like this at all. If you want to move on then move on.
Woody is a redman now and that's all there is to it.
Matty:
True that!
Santo, Sandberg, Banks; their lockers aree being used.
Its this kind of crap that keeps the curse alive. MOVE ON! We don't need anymore ghosts from the past roaming around. We have enough already.
Well I think we should use that locker as a house for Jim Hendry for not bringing Woody back. Other than that, I also think we should move on.
MY GOD!!! Kerry Wood is gone.....it's like we're treating him like Jesus Christ or something. That's the last time I ever going to use Kerry Wood and Jesus in the same sentence. They should use his locker as a garbage can!!
Woody was a great guy and a good pitcher Did someone get to use Mad Dogs locker after he got traded the last time. Is Santos locker or Ernies locker a shrine. I mean its kerry wood.
seriously, who would of thought that a nice gesture would get so many cubs fans' panties all in a bunch
it was a nice gesture out of respect for his career and you guys are making it out like they just built a gold statue of wood in the middle of the clubhouse.. it's for 1 year and i'm sure the players don't have a problem with it..
so chill out
They should have just reserved Woody a spot on the DL for the whole year. It would have been more fitting.
This is so dumb. Honestly? He didn't make that much of an impact on us especially the way Sammy Sosa did. He spent plenty of time on the DL too. He was a good player, but not great. Sometimes he was great but over his career I wouldn't call it that significant. I really don't think it should be that big of a deal that Woody left. I love the guy but seriously? It is kind of lame.
HA HA Mike s ....that's right! A spot on the DL would be more significant! haha
The real story is that no one else wanted it. It's rumored to be jinxed. There are lockers like that you know. I understand that Soriano is using Mark Prior's old locker.
I also heard that Woody's new locker used to belong to Pedro Serrano. It still has good Juju. (Hats for bats)
