Coverage - TV: Comcast SportsNet (White Sox), MLBN - Radio: WGN Radio, XM Channel 180

Sean Marshall (2-0, 0.63/0.70) vs. Mark Buehrle (0-0, 4.32/1.68)

Countdown to Opening Day...16 days. Lou Piniella's crew will make their second trip in the last week to the new complex in Glendale but this time they will face their crosstown rivals. The Cubs whipped Ozzie Guillen and the White Sox in their first meeting back on February 28 but were swept by the Sox in the two game series in Las Vegas on March 4 and March 5.

The Cubs' Opening Day roster is taking shape and Ron Santo mentioned during Friday's broadcast the Cubs are expected to cut as many as 10 players by Monday.

One player that is a lock to make the roster is Sean Marshall. The Cubs' second starting southpaw will make his first start today since being named the Cubs' fifth starter on Thursday. Marshall has been extremely impressive in Arizona this spring.

The Cubs will face a familiar foe in Mark Buehrle. Spring Training or not, it is the Cubs versus the Sox...

Sean Marshall will make his fifth start of the exhibition season today (sixth game). Marshall has allowed two runs, one earned, on nine hits in 14 1/3 innings...with just one walk to eight strikeouts.

The Cubs figure to run out a B-Team lineup once again today.

Mark Buehrle has not been as effective as Marshall this spring but should be at the top of his game today. The southpaw has allowed four runs on 10 hits in 8 1/3 innings this spring (four games, three starts) with four walks and eight strikeouts.

Pat and Ron will broadcast the game from Glendale today on WGN Radio and the game is available on the MLB Network and Comcast Sports Net in Chicago. Steve Stone and the rest of the Sox crew will call the game.

From out beloved Carrie Muskat:

"LF Alfonso Soriano, SS Ryan Theriot, CF Reed Johnson, DH Milton Bradley, 1B Jake Fox, 3B Mike Fontenot, 2B Aaron Miles, C Koyie Hill, RF So Taguchi. Sean Marshall will be on the mound."

Mike...thanks for posting the line-up. More regulars than I would have figured.

That was a beautiful curve from Marshall to strike out the Cuban Missle swinging.

Marshall, 3 ground ball outs in the first inning. Only 1 hit and three 3-ball counts in the first two innings.

SO-RI-ANO (clap, clap, clap, clap, clap)!!!!...4th of the spring

MILTON!! Home run to right off Buehrle...first as a Cub

Good job by Marshall, gave up his second earned run of the spring...but struck out Thome swinging for the second time in the game

Knocked out Buehrle after 3 2/3...Taguchi, Soriano and Reed with 2 out RBI...6-1 Cubs

Does it bother anyone else that Hawk can't pronounce some of the Cubs players' names correctly? What a professional he is.

That is just one thing in a long list that bothers me about the Hawk

Larry...forgot to say, good to have you back

Thanks. I log on every day to read the comments here, but don't always post.

Hawk bugs me for many reasons, but how hard is it to pronounce the names of the other team's players correctly. It isn't like he is hearing Theriot's name for the first time.

I agree, but he is not the only one. One of the games last weekend against the Angels was only available on their broadcast and they were terrible. Could not pronounce anyone's name and kept saying the Cubs were swept in the ALDS...

Every comment during spring tanning is automatically preceded with "it's only Spring training" but it sure is nice to see the Cubs road team knock around the Sux #1 or 2 starter.

Gary, you are right. But it is the Sox and I do not care if it's Spring Training or not.

Get out the tape measure...Jake Fox with a long 3-run shot off Scott Linebrink.

If he could only play third base

Excellent inning by the Shark.

Two swinging strikeouts (one was AJ), looked a lot more confident.

Fox most certainly can play third base.

That being said, what are his chances to make this team?

I'd take Fox over Hill/Bako if anything.
