Cubs Release Paul Bako and Mike Stanton
According to a report from the Sun-Times, the Cubs released Paul Bako on Monday morning, along with veteran reliever Mike Stanton.
With releasing Bako, Koyie Hill will serve as Geovany Soto's backup.
According to the report from Cubs.com the roster moves on Monday guarantees Micah Hoffpauir a spot on the Cubs' Opening Day roster.
The Cubs' Spring Training roster now stands at 28...with three more cuts left to make. Jeff Samardzija, Angel Guzman, Chad Fox, Chad Gaudin and David Patton are the remaining five fighting for the last two spots.
Will update when more information becomes available....

Rejoice!
Double rejoice!!
3 cuts to go . . . Fox is a no-brainer to go. Samardzija, too. The next cut is the hairy one . . . Patten stays, I think. Hopefully Guzman, too.
Triple that! Good choice. I am happy for Hill.
Jim Hendry is getting offers for Chad Gaudin and Angel Guzman. Expect a trade before opening day.
Good choice. Never liked re-using our own rejects.
I too like this.
I've read tons of stuff out of Des Moines and Chicago over the years about how close Geo and Koyie are.
At the start of 2008 I remember even reading that Geo learned a lot more from Koyie than Blanco at that point.
This is solid.
