New Faces in an Old Place...Video from Cubs' Second Game of the Spring

Many of Jim Hendry's off-season acquisitions took the field at HoHoKam Park against the Brewers on Thursday. The Cubs won the game 7-4, with the big hit coming off the bat of Jake Fox, a 3-run homer in the third. Joey Gathright was 3-for-3 with a walk, a run and a stolen base in his debut.

Milton Bradley made his brief Cub debut on Thursday as well. He walked in his only at bat before lifting himself for a pinch runner. The Cubs called it mild tightness in his left quad that he felt during warm-ups. Bradley is expected back in the lineup this weekend.

Here's more video from HoHoKam, including Milton Bradley's first at bat...

Several Cubs made their HoHoKam debut on Thursday in the 7-4 win. Aaron Miles, Chad Gaudin, Mike Stanton, Joey Gathright and Milton Bradley while Paul Bako made his first appearance at HoHoKam in a Cubs' uniform since 2004.

The CCO will have a full recap with photos from Thursday's win posted shortly....

    agreed...not to say that it's a little alarming that Bradley was taken out without even taking a step towards the basepaths, which it is, but things like "this just proves my point that the Bradley signing was a mistake" or "Hendry will get fired for that signing, or he'll catch lightning in a bottle and we'll win it all", though they are disguised as optimism, put you on the slippery slope

    Aaron, You need to calm down. I really don't see how the hell you can be a Cubs fan. Your comments are always so negative. True Cubs fans think postive if we lose or win. Don't get me wrong nothing would make me happier if they won one. One little thing happens and you go nuts. I'm sorry you work in the minor league and used to play college ball so you most know it all. I'm sure you do work in the minors as a BALLBOY. So what postion did you play in tee ball?

    Gee, Aaron you don't overreact act all. -_-;

    Aaron, have some good points that make a lot of sense. The one thing that I laugh about now is that new about Kerry Wood....yup he's hurt again! Like I said when he left, "turn the page". He's someone elses problem now. People gave him a rten gun solute when he left, but what did he do for us as a Cub? Did he win 15 games ever? Was he a big disapointment with his injuries? YES!! See ya Kerry, take some Motrin, PMS is killing you!!

    "The Cubs called it mild tightness in his left quad that he felt during warm-ups. Bradley is expected back in the lineup this weekend."

    Really, idiots...then why the hell...with all the experience with Wood, Prior, etc. being held out of games for even the slightest pinch would he even be out there. He says he told them beforehand, which makes the move to start him even more dubious...even if he didn't tell them, and this is just damage control by the team, either way it proves my point that the Bradley signing was a mistake, and I know I'll catch a lot of flak for it, but I don't care.

    C'mon folks, averaging 90 games/year for 8 full seasons in the bigs doesn't exactly warrant a $10 million contract. Hell, I could say, "when he's up from the minors...Hoffpauir will hit .342 with a .400 OBP", but it doesn't change the fact that he only played in 33 MLB games.

    I will NEVER understand how Hendry could justify that contract, no matter how you shake it. Mark my words...Hendry will get fired for that signing, or he'll catch lightning in a bottle and we'll win it all...It's an all or nothing proposition, and that's not exactly worked well for us.......or even the Yankees now, has it?!?

    If you're training an entire offseason to prevent lower leg injuries, then you better make sure you're ready come ST games, and he clearly wasn't.

    I think it's funny how a lot of people on this site brought up Soriano and ARAM's leg injuries in the past, and yet those guys average about 130-140 games with the Cubs, and yet we sign a guy that can't even come close to it, and those same people won't even question the dubious signing over Abreu or Dunn...I just can't believe it!
