Congratulations to Scott Eyre and the Phillies

For the first time since Tug McGraw struck out Willie Wilson to end the 1980 Word Series, the Philadelphia Phillies are the World Champions of Baseball.

A big tip of the cap to the Phillies and their fans but especially to the former Cub Scott Eyre....or was it, Stevie Ire?

The 2008 campaign is now complete....Let the Hot Stove Season begin!

  • Joe S. (San Diego)

Just the opposite Eric....the team with the most Ex-Cubs is usually doomed.... (because they bring the Cubs hex with them)

  • Eric

Could someone help me out here? I'm confused. I thought the ex-cub factor said that the team with the most ex-cubs on it will win. Is that right? Or am I crazy?

  • John G

Did the Phillies defy the alleged "Ex-Cub Factor"? They had Scott Eyre and Jamie Moyer. I can't think of any ex-Cubs on the Rays.

  • Eric

The Rays do (or did) have Cliff Floyd. But that still leaves the Phillies with a 3-1 advantage.

  • Neil

John, yes they did. Eyre was on with Kaplan tonight talking about the 'Ex-Cub Factor.'

Also...Matt Stairs, the Professional Hitter, is the third to complete the 'Ex-Cub Factor.'

  • Jim (Tinley Park)

Wiilie Wilson would go on to be a future Cub, while Hinske is an ex-Cub. They both were k'd to end the Series.

I just want to feel what all of the Phillies fans are feeling.

  • Dorasaga

I guess whatever that is, it ain't be some joke people make about a hundred years!

By the way... what's going on with Cuban and the sell? Nothing new but the cold one about the economy slowing down everything, yeah?

  • Neil

Dorasaga, I have not heard or read anything new on the sale of the team.

The Tribune announced the Cubs were going to be sold on Opening day in 2007....WOW!?!?!?!?!

  • fr

tim mcgraws biological father pitched in the world series?

  • Charle M

I'm very glad that the NL won. I hate hearing from Sox fans how the AL is the superior league. Hard for that argument to fly today.

  • Joe S. (San Diego)

LOL Did you copy my post? I mentioned Scott Eyre and also called for the start of the Hot Stove season... great minds think alike!

I also went back in and added one other special congrats to former Cub Jamie Moyer...what a story he is!!!!

  • Neil

Joe...I have to start reading my own site.

And yes, great minds think alike!
