According to a report on Cubs.com, Geovany Soto "expects to be ready after missing Friday's game." Soto was a late scratch with the left hand injury that he has been dealing with from time to time this season. X-rays were negative and Lou Piniella reported following Friday's game that the x-rays showed joint irritation.
Soto said "it felt funny" on Thursday and there was swelling on Friday that forced him out of the lineup.
According to a report in the Sun-Times, x-rays were negative and the report called the injury a bruise. If Soto is hurting then Lou Piniella should give him time to recover and not risk him being out for any length of time. Soto is just as important to this team as Alfonso Soriano, Aramis Ramirez and Derrek Lee. Most get wrapped up in offensive numbers but what Soto has meant to the pitching staff this season cannot be seen in a box score.

Good to hear.
Give Hank and Koyie some time.
Especially Hank. Im sure he wants some more ABs.
I dont want Geo tired come October.
Glad Geo is ok.....I agree with Matt...lets rest GEO alot the next couple weeks keep him fresh for October run!! Maybe a pinch hit a game to keep the stick going...with a couple spot starts.
I was very glad to see the Cards stomp the Cubs today.....didnt want the Cubs to clinch in the clubhouse with a Brewers loss....more exciting to do on the field....plus as I mentioned...I'm in Atlanta and didnt want to miss it....my plane lands in San Diego just before game time...so I will race home and watch it!! Even bought me a new jersey while here (Soriano) for the playoff run!!!
Lets go Cubbies!!!!
Yeah Joe, even though no Cubs loss is good, I was secretly hoping they'd let that one go yesterday in order to do it properly and be able to win it on the field. With the Brewers loss last night, its now right in front of us and all we have to do is win this one today!
While Soto is irreplaceable, Hank White's been pretty clutch lately. Would be good to see him get a few starts down the stretch.
Cuck the Fardinals! First Place Cubbies!
On a different note, did anyone tape or Tivo the replay of Z's no-hitter last night? I forgot it was on and was out of the house... I was out of the house last Sunday too and still have not seen the game in its entirety... I will pay a modest amount if someone will make me a copy.
Eric, I think Z's no hitter is available on iTunes
