Spring Training Game Twenty-Nine: Cubs (13-14-1) vs. Angels (18-7)
Game Time - 3:05pm C.T. TV: MLB.TV - Radio: Gameday Audio on MLB.com
Location - Tempe Diablo Stadium, Tempe

Carlos Zambrano (1-0, 0.60/0.73) vs. Jered Weaver (5-0, 1.33/0.74)

Updated - 2:35pm C.T. - With Roster Moves - According to Paul Sullivan in the Chicago Tribune, Ronny Cedeno and Mike Fontenot will make the Cubs' Opening Day roster and Matt Murton will either be sent down or traded. According to a report on Cubs.com, Alex Cintron was released.

Talkin' Cubs Live returns for the Cubs last road game in Arizona before the finale in the desert at HoHoKam Park on Thursday against the Brewers. For those of you new to the CCO, this is our way of previewing every game....so starting today, Talkin' Cubs Live will be up on the site at least 2 hours prior to game time and will provide the Faithful a place to talk about the games....live.

Today's pitching match-up figures to be a duel of Opening Day starters.

Carlos Zambrano skipped his last spring start on Friday and instead of pitching in Tucson against the Rockies, he pitched in a minor league game against the Padres Triple-A team. Zambrano was lights out the last time he faced the Angels, granted it was not a lineup full of their regulars, but it was still a dominating outing.

Zambrano most impressive stat of the spring....only 3 walks in 15 innings.

Lou Piniella's offense figures to have their hands full today facing Jered Weaver. Weaver has been just as dominating as Zambrano and has already beaten the Cubs once this spring.

Lou Piniella still has a few roster spots to fill. So keep an eye on Alex Cintron, Ronny Cedeno, Matt Murton and Mike Fontenot today....just not at the plate, but in the field as well.

Let's Talk Cubs Baseball....

This is probly the wrong place to ask this. But does anyone have a Sony PS3? I have mlb.tv and am wondering if I can stream Cub games through my Playstation on TV once I buy it. Has anyone tried it? Just curious.

Go Cubs!

Cintron got released? That's a little surprising to me.

Matt I have a PS3, I will give it a try, I am in the process of hooking it up online this weekend.

Cool nick, Thanks.

Posted by: Matt Haggard | March 26, 2008 4:48 PM

I would say .268, 15 HR's and three broken bats a week.

Hey Matt! everything good bro...Hey nick, Neil! What is up with our pitchers today. Good thing Theriot error was in spring training because he could have very well ended up in a trade to the Padres.
Marmol???

I was also surprised to see Cintron leave. One thing is for sure...Lou/JH had some tough calls to make. No easy task.

I suppose MLB has a players released list out now or will have very soon. In the same way that we got Johnson, the disgusting O's can pick up Cintron and have a competent shortstop/infielder. Maybe interest in Cedeno is one reason we didn't release him. Another may be that he is getting better--as he exhibited the last couple weeks of ST. I still like him.

I doubt if there is even a half way decent lefty reliever on the list. But we do have our trading chips available for later. One would think that something is working on a deal involving Murton. He is competent and has nothing to prove at Iowa.

Agustin...gotta throw strikes.

Let them get this out of the way today.

F.Rodriguez....our players did not get the memo and obviously don't know who he is! nice rally

Posted by: Matt Haggard | March 26, 2008 5:22 PM

If Wood can do this all season..Our bullpen will be skrait up nastie!

Posted by: Matt Haggard | March 26, 2008 5:42 PM

Think he'll ever start again?

Posted by: Matt Haggard | March 26, 2008 5:54 PM

So Macfailure is trying to make it seem that the deal is dead. Just read on MLBtraderumors.

It should be intresting to see what we end up getting out of a trade, since the BR trade is going through right now. I hope JH doesn't rush into or settle for a busted trade. It would be a shame to lose our trade bait for when the BR trade heats back up. I believe he could be a key piece to us winning a championship. But we must move on right now and go out ther and play ball, that is the main thing.

Was Fontenot out of options? If not, I would have thought we'd keep Cintron over him. If he is out of options, I suppose it made sense to release Cintron. Cedeno has more trade value than Cintron so I can see keeping Cedeno over him.

Nice comeback win last night. Had one of those lovely surprise pop-in visists from the in-laws last night, so it was definitely a better surprise when I turned the computer back on and saw we came back and won.
