Updated – 12:23pm C.T. – It’s Official…. The Cubs have announced the signing of Lieber to a 1-year, $3.5 million dollar deal. According to Rosenthal this could indicate the Cubs could trade Jason Marquis or that Ryan Dempster is heading back to the bullpen. Rosenthal stated Lieber will be in the Cubs rotation or he would have signed with another club.
Lieber was the last Cubs’ pitcher to post a 20-win season.
