According to reports from the Chicago Tribune and from Ken Rosenthal, the Cubs have agreed to a 1-year deal with Jon Lieber. The report in the Tribune indicated early on Wednesday morning that the deal was close but Ken Rosenthal cited sources have told him the Cubs have signed Lieber.
Updated – 12:23pm C.T. – It’s Official…. The Cubs have announced the signing of Lieber to a 1-year, $3.5 million dollar deal.
Lieber was the last Cubs’ pitcher to post a 20-win season.
