The Cubs released their 32-game 2008 Cactus League schedule on Monday. For the first time since 2005 the Cubs will start on the road in Scottsdale against the Barry Bond-less San Francisco Giants on Thursday, February 28th. Lou Piniella’s crew will play their home opener at HoHoKam Park on Friday, February 29th against the Giants. The Cubs will get their first look at the Milwaukee Brewers on March 4th in Mesa and will face the White Sox for the first time on March 15th in Tucson….the White Sox will travel to Mesa a week later on March 22nd. The Cubs will wrap up the Arizona part of the schedule on March 27th in Mesa against the Brewers before traveling to Las Vegas for the fourth year in a row. The Cubs will play two games against the Seattle Mariners in the annual ‘Big League Weekend’ on March 28th and March 29th….the 2008 regular season opens at Wrigley against the Brewers on March 31st.
Tickets for the Cubs home games at HoHoKam Park go on sale on Tuesday, January 8th.
