Jeff Suppan (10-11, 4.72/1.49) vs. Jeff Bennett (0-0, -.–/-.–)
For the Faithful…. The Brewers open a 4-game weekend series tonight against the Braves in Atlanta. With the Cubs having a well-deserved off day this is a pivotal game for the Brewers. If the Brewers win they will move to within one half game, if they lose they drop to a game and a half back. The Braves will give Jeff Bennett his first career big league start in the opener. The Braves still have a pulse in the playoff picture. They enter play tonight 5 1/2 games back of the Mets in 3rd place in the East and 6 games back of the Padres for the NL Wild Card. Lance Cormier was scheduled to get the start tonight but Jeff Bennett was very impressive during the Triple-A playoffs with Richmond….2-0 with a 1.04 ERA. Bennett pitched for the Brewers in 2004….he was 1-5 with a 4.79 ERA in 60 games out of the pen.
