According to a report on Cubs.com, Buck Coats was traded to the Reds for a player to be named later or cash. The Cubs also sent Clay Rapada to the Tigers as the player to be named later in the Craig Monroe deal. Coats was designated for assignment by the Cubs in order to make room for Craig Monroe on the 40-man roster and he was optioned to Triple-A Louisville by the Reds. Rapada was assigned by the Tigers to Triple-A Toledo.
