Cedeno to be Recalled….Fox Optioned?

According to a report in the Chicago Tribune on Monday night, the Cubs “will promote Ronny Cedeno from Triple-A Iowa on Tuesday” and the Tribune is speculating Jake Fox will be sent down in order to make room for Cedeno on the 25-man roster.

Ronny Cedeno started the season with the big league club but was demoted after hitting just .097 with a .121 OBP in 16 games….3-for-31 with a double, 2 home runs and 4 RBI’s. Cedeno hit .360 with a .424 OBP in 65 games with the I-Cubs….89-for-247 with 13 doubles, a triple, 10 home runs and 32 RBI’s.

Jake Fox was selected from Double-A Tennessee last week when the Cubs traded Cesar Izturis to the Pittsburgh Pirates. Fox was 0-for-1 in his only big league at bat.

Will update when more information becomes available and when there is an official announcement from the Cubs….

Quote of the Day

And I'm proud to be an American where at least I know I'm free. And I won't forget the men who died, who gave that right to me. And I'd gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today. ‘Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land God bless the U.S.A. Happy 4th of July!
