According to several reports out of Chicago, Lou Piniella has been fined and suspended indefinitely with the length of his suspension expected to be announced on Monday. ESPN's Baseball Tonight on Sunday morning called the suspension outrageous.
MLB stated Piniella made contact with Mark Wegner during his tirade on Saturday. Piniella will start serving his suspension on Sunday with Alan Trammell taking over duties in the dugout.
According to the report from the AP:
"The length of Piniella's suspension will be determined Monday after a meeting with John McHale Jr., the MLB executive vice president for administration."
