Updated - 10:23pm C.T. - With Info on Miller's Contract, Aramis Ramirez and Daisuke Matsuzaka

According to several reports, Wade Miller has signed a 1-year contract to remain with the Chicago Cubs. The amount of the contract has not been announced.

Miller is expected to compete for the 4th spot in the starting rotation.

Update...

Update - According to a report in the Chicago Tribune by Paul Sullivan, Wade Miller's new contract could be worth more than $5.25 million dollars if he meets all of his incentives. As thought, Miller's contract is incentive laden but is guaranteed to pay him $1.5 million. Miller will compete for a job in the back end of the starting rotation as speculated.

Aramis Ramirez.... In the same report about Miller, Sullivan said that Jim Hendry will not meet with Paul Kinzer next week at the GM Meetings as rumored. Hendry also declined to comment on the contract that the Cubs are rumored to have offered Ramirez. Some reports have stated the Cubs have offered a 5-year, $70 million deal....some say 5 years at $75 million.

Daisuke Matsuzaka.... According to the same report, the Cubs did place a bid for Matsuzaka.

Will update if more information becomes available....

    Nick,

Good call on Nomar. I absolutely agree with that idea wholeheartedly. I hope it gets done. 2b doesn't require tremendous range, so his quad, groin, leg issues shouldn't be a problem. I hope Hendry at least considers this move, and that 3b/2b/utility guy Iwamura would fit in nicely. I'm a little worried about reports that the Rangers may have won the bidding for Matsuzaka...I hope we at least get him or Igawa, or some other dependable starter.

Bring back Nomar anyway put him second.

That's what I'm talking about!! Believe it or not CUBS fans, I'll put it out there right now, Wade Miller is going to be a money maker for us!!

I have read reports that the CUBS are going to present Aram with a final "take it or leave it" offer by COB Saturday. I think that is a wonderful decision!! If he truly wants to be a CUB and play for Lou and the Wrigley faithful then sign the contract Aramis and get ready for Spring so we can get maximum return on our dollars this year.

    Besides, I hear Nomar calling............
