The Chicago Cubs announced on Sunday afternoon after the final game of the season that Andy MacPhail will resign as the President of the Chicago Cubs. John McDonough will serve as the interim President and Jim Hendry will remain as General Manager.

The Cubs are expected to announce their decision on Monday concerning the fate of Dusty Baker.

Stay tuned the Off-Season has begun....let winning now be the norm on the Northside of Chicago.

  • Mordecai,

John McDonough's backgound is more of a marketing background to the best of my knowledge. He has a communications degree from St. Mary's.

I have not seen an explination of the "interim" tag but as soon as I do I will update the post.

No news on Hendry but there is the press conference in the morning. We all have a lot of questions and the answers will come soon. Like I said to Jim, I think Andy MacPhail stepping down is good, change is good. Let's just see where it goes.

  • Mordecai Brown

What was McDonough's background before being Marketing and Broadcasting Director for the Cubs? Does he have a baseball background? Is his education finance-oriented? How secure is Jim Hendry? Right now, UI have a lot more questions than answers.

  • Yes, I think this is good. After the past 2 seasons, especially this one, change was/is a must. I do wonder how much of this is from the Tribune Company but the bottom line is positive...wat they were doing was not providing results.

    Neil:

Do you think this is good?

I admit, I'm not crazy abot John McDonough but I liked what he said at the press confrence. Actually, i loved it! I also read that last Wednesday, Steve Stone had diner with Mcdonough.
