From the Wire….Girardi Fired – Gonzalez Hired

The Marlins fired Joe Girardi at 9:00am on Tuesday and hired Fredi Gonzalez at 2:00pm.

As expected Joe Girardi was fired on Tuesday morning from the Florida Marlins. Several sources have stated this move was inevitable due to the riff between Girardi and Marlins’ owner Jeffrey Lorria. The Marlins are scheduled to interview Fredi Gonzalez, the current 3rd base coach of the Atlanta Braves, later on Tuesday to fill their vacancy and he is rumored to be the front-runner to fill their vacancy.

Girardi is a strong candidate to win the National League Manger of the Year honors.

Updated 2:30pm C.T./5.48pm C.T.: According to a report on ESPN Radio, the Marlins hired Fredi Gonzalez as their new manager on Tuesday afternoon. XM Radio is also reporting the hiring as well as other media outlets…remove Gonzalez from the list.
