Three More Added to the Staff

Mike Quade, Matt Sinatro and Lester Strode Offically Added to Piniella’s Staff

The Cubs announced three more additions on Friday afternoon to the coaching staff. Mike Quade was hired to coach 3rd base, Matt Sinatro was hired to coach 1st base and Lester Strode was hired as bullpen coach. The three will join Larry Rothschild and Alan Trammell on the new staff. The Cubs have not announced their new hitting coach, yet….Von Joshua, Dave Keller, Ron Jackson and Chris Chambliss are the rumored names to fill the vacancy and Chambliss was interviewed by the Brewers on Thursday.

Mike Quade, 49, filled in briefly for Chris Speier last season while he was on leave. Quade has been with the Cubs since 2003 and has been a Minor League manager for 17 years. He was the Oakland A’s 1st base coach from 2000-2002.

Matt Sinatro, 46, will serve with Lou Piniella. Sinatro was the bullpen coach for the Devil Rays from 2003-2005 and was also with Piniella in Seattle from 1995-2002.

Lester Strode, 48, has been in the Cubs organization for the last 18 years and has served as their Minor League pitching coordinator for the last 11 years. Strode also served as a pitching assistant with the Major League club.
