Carlos Zambrano Hit in Right Elbow by White Sox Joey Cora

According to reports out of Chicago on Wednesday morning, including a report on Cubs.com, Carlos Zambrano missed Tuesday night's All-Star game after being hit in the right elbow by Joey Cora during batting practice before the game. Apparently Zambrano was being interviewed by members of the Venezuelan media and backed up into the fungo bat that Cora was swinging, Cora was hitting infield grounders.

Zambrano was taken to a local hospital, the X-Rays were negative according to a report and according to Phil Garner, from Cubs.com, "He wasn't able to throw. Let's just leave it at that."

Zambrano was struck above the right elbow by the back swing of Cora. Zambrano was scheduled to pitch two innings in the game and the Cubs lone representative was not inserted into the game. Zambrano is scheduled to be back in Chicago on Wednesday morning for further tests and Garner said after the game it was a bruise.

Zambrano is scheduled to start against the Mets on Saturday.

I agree with you i know it won't happen, just saying it would be pretty sweet.

wishful thinking nick. why would the brewers who are very much in a position to make a run for the wild card going to give up their biggest bat? Even last night on baseball tonight Steve Phillips picked the Brewers to be his sleeper in the second half. bottom line, i would take it, but I think it is unlikely the cubs will be able to get carlos lee from teh brewers so long as the brew crew is in contention.
