What Was or What Could Have Been – Round Two

The Second Month

With all of the screaming from the Cubs Faithful and all of the news former Cubs have been making around the Major Leagues, it is time for another addition of “What Was or What Could Have Been”. We all know how Nomar Garciaparra and Corey Patterson have been doing, and while I wish Nomar was still in Cubbie blue, I still feel Corey Patterson needed a change of scenery, I just wish they could have gotten a little more for him. There was a report out of Baltimore today on XM Radio talking about how Corey has impressed everyone in Baltimore with his work ethic.

The CCO’s favorite off-season grader, Dayn Perry of FoxSports.com is at it again with the Cubs and released a report on Thursday titled “10 Players That Could Lose Their Jobs” and Ronny Cedeno was one of them. Perry goes on to explain that Dusty’s preference for veterans and the fact that Cedeno is not hitting may send him to the bench for a double play combination of Neifi Perez and Tony Womack.

More news from Thursday and the rest of the report….
Updated – 6:11am C.T. with a Mark Prior Report, Was it a strain or a tear? The most talked about news out of Chicago on Thursday was the height of the grass….but the real news was Mark Prior will be making another rehab start on Saturday for the Peoria Chiefs and Derrek Lee is out of his cast and has begun his rehab.

Update – According to a report in Friday’s Chicago Trubune, Mark Prior said after his rehab start this past weekend that there was a tear in his shoulder. The entire report is confusing and Prior seems to think a strain and a tear is the same thing.

If there is a player you would like me to keep track of during the season, let me know, either leave a comment or drop me an email – neil@chicagocubsonline.com. Hindsight is always better than foresight….at least that’s what I’ve been told, so it should be interesting to see how those decisions, made so long ago, transpire throughout the season.
