Talkin’ Cubs Live – Cubs vs. Reds – 04/11/06

Game Six: Cubs (4-1) vs. Reds (4-2)
Game Time – 1:20pm C.T. on Comcast SportsNet, WGN Radio, XM Radio Channel 186

Glendon Rusch (0-1, 9.00) vs. Bronson Arroyo (1-0, 4.05)

The first place Chicago Cubs (by percentage points) takes on a very dangerous Cincinnati Reds team today at Wrigley. This is a rematch of the second game of the season, the only one to this point the Cubs have lost. Rusch gave up a home run to Bronson Arroyo as well as walking his mound counterpart back on April 5th.

Rusch has to be sharp today and provide a quality start for the Cubs and allow Dusty to stay out of the bullpen too early. Rusch only threw 4 innings in his first outing and he is the key to the game. The Cubs and Jacque Jones have hit Arroyo well in the past; let’s hope for the same today.

Monday was the last day off for the Cubs until April 20th after the 3 game set against the Reds the Cubs hit the road to Pittsburgh for 3 and then a 3 game series in Los Angeles against the Dodgers, before heading to the new Busch Stadium. This is a HUGE 3 game series (I cannot believe I just wrote that about a series in April, but it is) The Cubs will not see Wrigley again until April 24th, against the Marlins. The Cubs need to build on the weekend and not allow bad habits to creep into their game.
