Marshall has given uop 4 runs in the 1st
Should be an interesting (and few) couple of innings if he Marshall keeps that up.
Marshall calmed down, he got burned on walks and I do not like to see that.
Watching Juan Pierre work that pitcher and steal second got me very, VERY excited.
Thoughts anyone?
This kid does not give up a run all of Spring Training so Dusty names him the fourth starter.
He then proceeds to get rocked. What did Jason say about Wellemeyer and expectations, looks like good ole Todd may not be the only one.
I think I am a little nervous to watch this kid face the Cards in Wrigley next weekend.
Marshall cannot close out the innings....all the damage has been done with 2 outs. That ball that just left the park is orbiting somewhere with the ball Pujols hit last year...wow!!!
Pierre did his job, A-Ram has to get them in
Neil,
I am very confident that A-Ram will come through, in fact, I am pretty confident with this offense. Pierre is better than Podsednik and he got the Sox to the Series himself. Our lineup is better than theirs last year, we just need to get to the seventh inning with our pitching and we will be okay.
SI had the Cubs at 4th in the division, Astros 3rd, Brewers 2nd and the Cards.
Am I the only person waiting for Doug Davis and Chris Capuano to come back to earth. I mean, really, Jason Marquis came back down last year and I look for Jeff Suppan to follow in suit. With Sidney Ponson not scaring anyone, that leave Carpenter and who?
Brian, D-LEE and Pierre...top of the line-up looks good. The 2K6 Daily Double...Derrek Lee and Aramis Ramirez...I can hear Harry now.
Did the Chicago Cubs just MANUFACTURE three run?
My favorite part of that inning was TW's chopper that moved the runners to second and third. He is a baller, day in and day out, he gets the job done.
Pierre may have had a rough spring, but based on tonight, he looks ready to go!
I always hear Harry, you know he raised a glass yesterday when they named the bleachers after his favorite beverage.
Also...
San Diego is a mere 332 miles from Las Vegas.
Chicago is 1749 miles from Las Vegas.
The crowd is 90% Cubs fans, I love it.
Stay Classy!
Once Marshall gets that breaking ball in check he is going to be fine. I was happy to see he did not fall apart after the 1st. He has not pitched passed single A ball. I think he kept his composure. A high fastball to Castillo, thats just something he has to learn. Brian I agree how great was that to see Pierre get on, and then the pitcher proceed to walk the next two. He can really mess with their heads. It is going to be great to watch all year.
All of Marshall's base runners were after 2 outs.
There has been a Bobby Hill sighting. Hill as at 2nd base and Mark Bellhorn is at first base....talking about Ghosts of Cubs Past!!!
It's seems eerily quiet from all the fans that were giving Marshall rookie of the year from a few good spring training starts. It's sad that we are so desperate for pitching that people start putting unrealistic expectations on players. The reality is, Marshall will be back in the minors before the end of May, if not sooner. I like the kid, but he's just that and needs more time.
I dont think anyone was giving him rookie of the year, but excited that the Cubs are actually giving a young kid a shot. Rather than put Williams and Rusch on the mound. And the game was yesterday, thats why people are quiet.
