Mark Prior Update, Simontacchi Leaves Practice Early, Wade Miller Facts, Ronny Cedeno….Spring Training and Wrigley Pictures
After the first full day of pitchers and catchers practicing, the Cubs have had the first injury of Spring Training. Jason Simontacchi left practice early according to several reports out of Chicago. ESPN 1000 is reporting it is Simontacchi’s right shoulder and is scheduled to see Dr. James Andrews on Monday. Every report I have heard and read including ESPN 1000’s Bruce Levine is stating the Cubs are just being cautious with Mark Prior. Prior came into camp a little behind from an illness and the Cubs want him to start the year on the active roster, not the DL.
There was a very good article in the Sun-Times on Saturday morning by Mike Kelly. He talked about Wade Miller’s success against the National League Central. Miller is 11-1/2.55 ERA against the Brewers, 8-6/3.74 against the Cardinals, 7-2/4.05 against the Reds, 6-4/2.99 against the Pirates and is 4-1 in his career at Wrigley. Miller said he is looking forward to pitching at Wrigley and for the Cubs.
Milo Hamilton was on Baseball 365 on Saturday….again bashing Harry Caray. I thought it was very bad taste to have him on the radio on the Anniversary of Harry’s death. Milo you need to let it go.
Yahoo Sports has released more pictures from Spring Training. These are from Saturday and the first page and a half are new….check them out. Also below you will find pictures of Wrigley that Brian sent me today….from Mesa to 5 below zero in Chicago. It is hard to believe the first Spring Training game is only 11 days away.
Also, while I was writing this report ABC Family is showing ‘Rookie of the Year’. Why do the Red Sox get Jimmy Fallon and Drew Barrymore, the Indians get one of the best baseball movies of all-time in ‘Major League’ and the Cubs get this? Will someone please make a good baseball movie about the Cubs?
A couple of ‘freebies’…. I have a few extra tickets for the March 2nd and March 5th games at HoHoKam, if you’re going out to Mesa for the opening weekend and are interested in some General Admission Tickets, they’re yours for the asking. Just send me an email at [email protected] Obviously, once they’re gone – they’re gone. Also, I also had some 2006 pocket schedules printed out, so if you’d like a copy of the .pdf file to print out on your own, send me an email to the same address.
Well that’s the news….and I’m sticking to it!!
