Just for those curious, his name isn't pronounced the way it's read. It's pronounced like on Hel pu GON

This must be bargain basement month:

lets see, Hendry accquies, Augie Ojeda, Marquis Grissom, Wade Miller and now Angel Pagan. I wonder if he plans to pursuit Mario Mendoza next. Hendry, you are cluttering up Arizona with a bunch of guys that I wouldn't even want on my Softball Team.

I agree with Greg. Last year they couldn't find room to protect Andy Sisko (who was better than most if not all of their relievers last year) on their 40 man roster and now they're adding Angel Pagan ... very disconcerting!

  • I do not understand this move. I have been trying to find out what I can about Pagan, by the way Sean great take, and there is not much out there. I went to Minor League Ball's website (www.minorleagueball.com) to see what John Sickels had to say about him. Sickels is on XM all the time and I have a lot of respect for his opinion on the Minor League Prospects. Sickels ranked Angel Pagan #16 out of 20 in the Mets organization. With 6 years in the Minors, that ranking is a little concerning. Here is the link to the page on Pagan http://www.minorleagueball.com/story/2005/11/3/173015/597 This is what Sickels had to say, "Outside chance of earning a bench job eventually, but unlikely to become a regular. His skills just aren't strong enough." All I can think of is that this is a roster fill for Iowa. The Cubs are changing their philosophy of more speed and less power.

as a team with what may or may not be a legitimate curse (at least ours wan't invented by dan Shaughnessy), i wonder at the signing of a guy named "pagan", although this may be lessened by the name "angel". are they trying to confuse higher powers with this?

    what a mystery

He doesn't hit for much, and with a .964 FP can't field well. The fact that he is now on the 40 man roster bothers me quite a bit.

i have no idea what this guys role is going to be, it seems we have alot of outfielders as it is. Neil whats your take on this??? precursor for things to come?
